The Soaring Capital Soccer Club is proud to announce restructuring and additions to our coaching staff, featuring some of the most accomplished coaches in the area.

Zach Sarno, longtime coach and Director of Coaching, shifts back to the Girls Director of Coaching. Zach is the highest licensed women’s soccer coach in our area, and has over 20 years of experience with the club. He holds numerous licenses and diplomas, including a USSF National D License, USC Director of Coaching Diploma, and USC Premier, Advanced National, and National Diplomas. Zach is also the Elmira Express Varsity Girls Coach, and has lead them to 7 Section 4 titles.

Steve Mastronardi rejoins the club as the Boys Director of Coaching. Steve brings a passion for player/coach development that is evident in his vast 26 years of experience in various coaching, coach educator, and director roles at the local, state, regional (youth), and semi-professional levels. He is a US Soccer, United Soccer Coaches, and NYSWYSA coach educator, and holds numerous coaching licenses and diplomas, including USSF National Youth, National B, and Coach Educator Licenses, and USC Director of Coaching, Premier and National Youth Diplomas.

Adam Robinson also returns to SCSC as the Youth Technical Director. Coach Robinson will oversee the u10 and under age groups to ensure a proper pathway to the development of foundational skills. Robinson brings a wealth of experience to the position from both the youth and collegiate ranks, and is currently the acting Head Coach for the Elmira College Women’s Soccer Team (Division III).

Coach John Shaffer has been named the club’s Director of Goalkeeping. John brings an abundance of experience at the college, club, and high school levels to our club. John is the former coach of Mansfield University Women’s Soccer Program (NCAA Division II), and holds a USSF D License as well as multiple United Soccer Coaches Goalkeeping Diplomas.
